#71 Tony Montgomery
Senior, Defensive Tackle
Ht: 5-11
Wt: 280

What is your full name? Tony Daquan Montgomery

Why do you wear #71? My oldest brother, Tyrone Gore, wore #71 when he played for South Columbus. He dies when I was seven so I wear this number to honor him.

How many years have you played varsity? This is my fourth year of varsity football and the third as a starter.

What is the difference now that you are a senior and being looked on as a leader on the defensive line? Before you are a junior, you feel like everyone looks down on you. But, now that I am a senior, I feel like everyone looks up to you and it is my job to keep the younger players in check. I also feel lik ot is the seniors job to help the coaches out any way possible.

What is your favorite subject in school? Government Econ.

Do you have plans to continue your playing career in college? I am going to try to. Coach Mabry keeps sending game film out to different colleges and I am getting a lot of different looks.

What is your favorite food? My favorite food is anything that doesn't eat me first! I really like a steak, taters and a big glass of milk.

A baked potato or french fries? Man, with a steak, a baked potato!

What is your favorite TV show? The old Scooby Doos. You know, the one with Scrappy.

What is your favorite movie? Any Given Sunday

Who is your favorite teacher? My favorite high school teacher would have to be Ms. Threat. I was failing everything in her class in 10th grade and somehow passed with an 80. I guess me and Ms. Threat were on the same page!

Were you born here in North Myrtle Beach? No, I was born in Tabor City. I moved here when I was four.

Have you played any other sports in high school? I am going to wrestle for the first time this year and throw the shot and discus in track. Since it is my senior year, I have to go all out. I have never wrestled and did not want to to be honest but Coach Neal said "Tony, you wrestling." I asked him if he was asking or telling. He said "You're wrestling." I just said "OK."
